ITANAGAR, May 2: International Labour Day was celebrated by the workers community of the state along with rest of the country with great enthusiasm.
The day was celebrated at state capital by All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union at its headquarters at Nyokum Lapang as 23rd International Labour Day where large number of workers participated, braving the inclement weather. All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) President Dobing Sonam and All Garku Abu Welfare Society ( AGAWS) President Taba Taku attended as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
AAPPTF President in his address said that labour force is the biggest force of the development of infrastructure and emphasised upon the workers community to work sincerely and shoulder responsibilities in nation building. Referring to the memorandum submitted demanding equal pay with equal job and other demands, Sonam said that the rights and privileges of labour and workers community need to be addressed by the government and hoped that the new government will give justice to the demands of several labour organisations including AAPWU and others.
AGAWS President elaborated the need of formation of labour union and other organisations in the greater interest of the workers community.
Meanwhile, All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union ( AAPLU) celebrated the function at its head office at Nirjuli. Labour Commissioner cum Registrar of Trade Union etc, Government of Arunachal Pradesh Ojing Darang attended as chief guest in presence of AAPLU President Dana Tadu and several other Executive Members including a large gathering of labourers and workers.
May Day was also celebrated organized by Joint Working Committee of Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union (JWCAPTU) and BRO Labour Union in collaboration with District Health Society (NVBDCP), West Siang district wherein Deputy Commissioner , Zonal Secretary of JWCAPTU Kipa Tame, West Siang DIPRO Gijum Lali attended as chief guest, guest of honour and special guest respectively.
May day was celebrated in Tawang at various locations by different labour organizations. The North East Border Road Organisation Labourers’ Union (NEBROLU) celebrated the day at Jang Outdoor Stadium where Chairman Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) Jalley Sonam graced the occasion as chief guest and Jang Cooperative Society Chairman Leki Gombu as guest of honour.
Chairman APB&OCWWB requested the members of BRO workers to register themselves under Labour Welfare Board of Arunachal Pradesh through Registering Officers to get various available benefits being provided by the government. He also remembered the former Chief Minister Late Dorjee Khandu for creating the board during his tenure.
Speaking on the occasion as guest of honour Leki Gombu, informed that Chief Minister Pema Khandu couldn’t attend this programme due to pre-occupation but has conveyed his best wishes to all the workers on this day.
