ITANAGAR, Feb 21: The 32nd Statehood Day was celebrated all over the state in a befitting manner in all districts and administrative headquarters on February 20 last.             

To commemorate the occasion here at Itanagar, a three day ‘Festival of Arunachal’ with the theme ‘Rising Arunachal towards inclusive growth and development’ is being organized at Indira Gandhi Park. 
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig.(Dr.) B.D Mishra (Rtd) unfurled the national tri-color and declared the festival open in presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, DCM Chowna Mein and other dignitaries.

The ‘Festival of Arunachal’, which would continue till February 22 next aims at projecting the festival as a symbol of multi-dimensional cultural identity, communal harmony, besides propagating the spirit of national integration. 
          

Addressing a mammoth gathering as Chief Guest at IG Park here, the Governor stated that a new chapter of transformation is being written in the state with several achievements in different fields, adding that the state is on the path of rapid pace of development. Stressing that coexistence and good social order are pre-requisites for sustained economic growth, he called upon one and all to ensure transparency, accountability and probity in all dealings. 
On the occasion, the Governor strongly advocated for maintaining peace and tranquility in the state and called for a drug free society.


The Governor also released a ‘Souvenir’, launched Saubhagya Scheme, a GoI initiative on Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, distributed the State Awards – including State Ratna award to Ashok Chakra(Posthumous) Havildar, late Hangpan Dada, Gold Medals and Silver medals to distinguished persons for their meritorious services, besides CM’s Excellence Award in civil service. Later, he also inaugurated and visited the Exhibition stalls and District Food Stalls.
           

Earlier, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, while welcoming one and all to the celebration gave a brief on evolution of the state and highlighted the initiatives, priorities and achievements of the state government. He hoped that the Team Arunachal under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu would strive for accelerating the pace of development in state in tune with Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas policy of the Prime Minister of India.
 

Other highlights of the day included colourful cultural display by dance troupes from various districts, release of tri colour balloons. The three day mega festival event would have an array of cultural programmes including local artists, school children and outside performers, besides exhibition stalls, Food Festival, Fashion Show, Beauty Pageant, Indigenous games & Show, Krishi Mela, Arogya Mela, and Flower Show and performances by first ever Officers & Official idol. 


Ministers, parliamentary secretaries and legislators, senior government officers and officials, participants from various district and other general public attended the statehood day programme.

AT AALO,

The day began with mass social service at respective offices, colonies and sectors. Mini Marathon for boys and girls under the banner ‘Run for sports’ was held in the morning. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Yaman Bagra, graced the occasion as chief guest and unfurled the tricolor and took salute from the APP contingents.

She spoke of the various central and state government schemes that people could avail and asked the government servants to work with dedication. She appealed to people to get their first two girl child registered in the ICDS Department under CMs flagship Programme Dulhari Kanya Scheme for whom Rupees twenty thousand is fixed deposited upto the age of eighteen years.

 

AT BOMDILA,

Deputy Commissioner, West Kameng District, Dr. Sonal Swaroop, in her address urged the people to ensure preservation of traditional culture as well as the natural environment. She also highlighted the various welfare measures of the State Government. She further urged all parents to ensure that their children are administered the MR vaccines.

There was a colourful display of cultural events by the school children alongwith various sports event and a pipe band display by the 9 Kumaon Regiment.

At KHONSA:

56-Khonsa west MLA Tirong Aboh unfurled the national flag amidst a huge gathering  including  DC PN Thungon, SP JK Meena, ZPC Songthong Bangsia and HoDs.

While greeting the public on the occasion, the MLA highlighted in length all the flagship programmes and appealed the public to support and cooperate with the government to bring development in the area and the state.

He further appealed the youths to shun violence, drug abuse and to refrain from anti-social activities and appealed the misguided youths to shun violence and join the mainstream.

Reports of celebrations have also come from all the administrative outposts of the district likes Dadam,Soha, Lazu and Deomali where statehood Day was celebrated in befitting manner.

 Traditional cultural tableau, games and sports, food festival marked the day and added colour to the celebration.

AT TAWANG:

The day began with a procession carried out by students, officers, officials and public of Tawang.

Addressing a mammoth gathering, DC Sang Phuntsok called upon everyone to maintain spirit of bonhomie and harmony and be equal partners in the path towards development. He highlighted on important central and state flagship schemes and elaborated on steps being taken by the government in development front.
