ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Day ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Itanagar as a part of his ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra , the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh unit vehemently opposes Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, accusing the Congress of decades-long neglect and injustice towards the state's social, economic, and infrastructure development.
The State BJP Spokesperson Dominik Tadar asserted that Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed substantial progress only in recent years under the Double Engine Sarkar of BJP both in the State as well the Center, dispelling the legacy of negligence during the Congress regime.
He further alleged that the Congress Party's faulty policies, corruption, and indifference led to militancy in the North East, and it was only under the present government that peace prevailed in the region. He highlighted the lack of development initiatives after the 1962 Indo-China War and quoted then Defense Minister AK Anthony, who stated that infrastructure development in border areas was not a priority for the Congress.
He added, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government state has achieved significant milestones since 2014, including the construction and functioning of six Advance Landing Grounds, airports in Pasighat, Ziro, and Itanagar, and the establishment of highways connecting all district headquarters specially the recent Frontal Highway from Tawang to Vijaynagar.
Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra is expected to enter Arunachal Pradesh from Gumto check gate and end at Hollongi, traversing the four-lane highways constructed by the Double Engine government. The BJP urges Gandhi to explore more rural areas where the current government has developed roads and highways, contrasting it with the alleged inaction of the Congress for six decades, he added
Accusing the Congress of playing divisive politics, Tadar labelled Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Nyay Yatra as "AnyayYatra," claiming it aims to protect his family legacy. The BJP strongly opposes Gandhi's visit, asserting that the people of Arunachal Pradesh have rejected his Bharat Jodo Yatra in other states and urging him not to disrupt the peace and tranquillity of the state, added the BJP’s spokesperson.
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Former Chief Minister and APCC President Nabam Tuki has called on citizens to participate in the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,' led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, commencing from Gumto Check Gate to Itanagar on Saturday. Tuki emphasized the importance of unity and urged the public, political parties affiliated to “INDIA” alliance , to join the rally and the subsequent mass meeting at the Ground of Mallo Tarin GHSS Itanagar.
In response to BJP's opposition to the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and allegations of Congress ruining the state, Tuki vehemently defended his party's contributions to Arunachal Pradesh's development. He asserted that the Congress played a pivotal role in shaping the state, with even its name being given by former PM Indira Gandhi, and statehood achieved under the leadership of former PM Rajiv Gandhi.
Tuki highlighted the numerous developmental projects initiated by Congress, including hydro projects, the road from foothills area to Bhutan, Myanmar borders road, railway stations, ALGs, airports, and the Trans Arunachal Highway sanctioned by former PM Manmohan Singh in 2008. Taking a swipe at the BJP, Tuki claimed that while the BJP party has only inaugurated projects sanctioned by the congress. Moreover, BJP has failed to deliver on promises made during the 2014 elections, such as the establishment of IIT and AIIMS in the state.
"Public knows the reality of what Congress has done for the development of the state," added Tuki, underscoring the contrast between Congress' tangible developmental initiatives and BJP's unfulfilled promises.
