BOMDILA, Nov 4: To the thunderous applause of the people of the district at Buddha Stadium Bomdila at the ongoing Buddha Mahotsava celebration, MoS Home Kiren Rijiju assured to place the issue of Schedule Tribe status for Monpa, Sartang and Sajolang in the winter session of Parliament and get it done.
Speaking as the chief guest during the third edition of the Buddha Mahotsava, Kiren said that this would be his reciprocation for the love and unwavering faith that the people had for him in the district.
Thanking CM Pema Khandu for the support in celebration of the festival, Kiren expressed his satisfaction over the marked changes and improvisations seen over the years in the manner the festival was being organized by the District Administration.
He gave the call for preserving and promoting the age old culture and tradition which is so dear to every Arunachalee. Being rooted to one’s culture and tradition would go a long way in its preservation, he said.
Kiren assured his endeavor to promote Arunachal as the most sought after tourist destination in the days to come but sought the support and co-operation of the indigenous people of the state to do so.
On the unfortunate incident that happened on the first night and the second day of the celebration at Bomdila, Kiren expressing his anguish said that Law shall prevail and appropriate action would be taken against the perpetrators.
MLAs Japu Deru, Phurpa Tsering and Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop also addressed the revelers.
Minister Kiren later felicitated the representatives of the six CBOs of the district, the achievers of West Kameng district 2018, guest artists and patrons of the Buddha Mahotsava celebration. DIPRO
