TEZU, Jan 17: Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein today said extra attention would be given to the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs in the coming budget including equal importance at par with other major departments.
He said this while attending the closing ceremony of the 3rd Edition of Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy on Football & Volleyball for under 18 boys and girls at Jubilee Ground in Tezu. 
He observed that after the establishment of Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy at Itanagar, there has been remarkable improvement in games & sports activities and our young boys & girls have been doing well and bringing laurels to the State by winning medals in various national and international sports events.
He urged the young boys & girls to excel in games & sports and take up sports as a profession too.
He also informed that another Sports Academy will be coming up in the eastern sector at Tirap and Longding district. He further stated that our State will be capable of hosting games & sports events of regional and national level in the State soon as every district will have a Stadium of its own.  
Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, Dr  Mohesh Chai and Director of Sports, Tadar Appa also spoke on the occasion.
A souvenir of the tournament was also released on the occasion. The final match of football (boys) was played between Upper Subansiri and West Siang District.
