3rd Bharat Lok Sangeet Arunachal Utsav connects with youth
TEZU, Jan 7: The 3rd Edition State Level Under -18 Hangpan Dada Memorial Tournament for Football and Volleyball was kicked off here today. Minister, Sports & Youth Affairs Dr Mohesh Chai, MLA Namsai, Zingnu Namchoom attended the opening ceremony as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Wife of martyr Hangpan Dada, Chasen Dada also attended the event as special guest.
While welcoming the participants, Minister Dr Mohesh Chai, said that the sports scenario of Arunachal Pradesh is changing fast and proof is the recently concluded North East Olympic Games concluded at Manipur where Arunachal secured 3rd position. ‘Everyone cannot become an officer and everybody cannot be accommodated in government job but one can build a career in sports,’ he said.
MLA Namchoom said ‘Sports is the way to achieve big in life and facing challenges of sports teaches us to tackle other challenges of life as well.’
Speaking on the occasion, Chasen Dada said she is indebted beyond words to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for sponsoring the tournament in the name of her late husband.
Players from at least 22 districts are participating in the Hangpan Dada State Level Football and Volleyball Tournament. Among others Deputy Commissioner, Lohit, Defence personnel from 8th Mountain Brigade and other dignitaries attended the opening ceremony.
