ITANAGAR, Apr 30:  Curtain raiser ceremony for the schedule ‘Oorja CAPF Under -19 football talent hunt’ for both boys and girls being organized by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was held here today at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun. Renowned football player Gumpe Rime attended the program as Chief Guest along with Inspector General, ITBP,NE(FHQ)Itanagar, Manoj Singh Rawat and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Rime appreciated the ITBP for organizing such event to encourage youths. While encouraging the youths to take full advantage of such opportunity to show their hidden talent, he said sports has vast opportunities for career building and youths should opt for this profession. The former national player also urged the teams to maintain sportsmanship spirit during the tournament.

While elaborating about the weeklong tournament, IG, Rawat informed that the tournament is an initiative inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mission XI million to encourage both boys and girls to play the popular game of football. The U-19 football tournament will kick off on May 1 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun .

Earlier, both IG Rawat and Rime jointly unveiled the Mascot of the tournament “Gabru”.  Winner of the tournament will get cash prize of Rs 1lakh (both boys and girls) followed by Rs 60,000 to Runner-up and Rs 40,000 to Hardliner team.

Among others, Parliamentary  Secretary  Sports and Youth Affairs, Nyamar Karbak, Director of Sports Department, Tadar Appa ,DIG,ITBP ( Training)  SK Sharma ,DIG NE(FTR,HQ)-ITBP, GC Upadhyay and others also attended the programme.
