Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
NAHARLAGUN, Mar 23:A 12 member sport climbing team from the state is going to participate in the ensuing North East Open Sport Climbing Competition to be held at Guwahati from March 24 next. The team is being led by Dr Kangabam Romeo Metei, In-charge Adventure Cell, Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Coach Kison Tekseng and assistant coach Tem Tapung.
During the flag off ceremony held at Sangey Lhaden Sports’ Academy (SLSA), Chimpu today, President Arunachal Sport Climbing Association Sikka Gapak calling the participants ‘ambassadors of the state’ encouraged them to give their best.
“Make it happen. Do not just think about winning medals but do your best,” he called out.
He also motivated participants to prepare themselves for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Earlier, Dr Meetei while saying that Sport Climbing is in its infant stage in the state hoped that many medals will be won in the field.
“The last time we won medals in this field was when there was no climbing wall here. We have lots of potential. Our girls and boys are born climbers,” he said.
