Itanagar, Nov 12: The Regional Seminar on Spices in NE Region and Large Cardamom Productivity Awards ceremony will be organised by Spices Board, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, GoI here at DK Convention Centre on November 13.
The objective of the seminar is to disseminate knowledge about improved production/post-technologies in spices, identify tire gaps in cultivation, processing & marketing of spices and draw a road map for development of spices in NE states. Resource Persons from central/state institutes, senior officers of State Horticulture/Agriculture Department, progressive farmers, Farmers’ Groups/NGOs, exporters, processors etc from all NE states are participating. Director (Finance), Spices Board A. Shainamol, Secretary (Agriculture & Horticulture), GoAP Bidol Tayeng and Director (R&D), Spices Board Dr A B Rema Shree will be among others speaking on the occasion.
Minister for Agriculture & Horticulture etc Tage Taki will distribute the Large Cardamom Awards  to the winners for 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19. 
It needs mentioning that Spices Board has instituted the award to recognize and encourage growers who achieve high levels of productivity. It consists of one First prize and two Second prizes. In addition, the Board distributes Certificate of Merit to the nominee growers whose yield is very close to that of the award winners. The First prize carries a cash award of Rs. 1,00,000 and each Second prize carries a cash award of Rs. 50,000 with citations and certificates. Out of two Second prizes, one is exclusively reserved for a woman grower. 
A buyer-seller meet organized by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) will also be held on November 14. ‘Arunoday’, a promotional film conceived and developed by Spices Board highlighting the  importance of large cardamom in socio-economic development of Arunachal Pradesh will also be released during the occasion.
