ITANAGAR, Nov 27: Minister (Textile and Handicrafts) Tumke Bagra today inaugurated a 14 day special handloom expo (SHE 2019), under National Handloom Development Programme, sponsored by Development Commissioner (Handloom), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India and organized by Arunachal Pradesh Handloom & Handicrafts Development Society along with Directorate of Textile and Handicrafts.
Bagra, speaking on the occasion appreciated the quality of products on display and urged upon the participating weavers, artisans, cooperative societies etc to increase production and advocated changing the quality of product by keeping traditional design intact for marketing products outside the state. He assured the gathering that the government will extend all possible help for the growth of Arunachal Pradesh Handloom, Silk and Handicrafts sector and emphasized for conducting more such expos in the districts and outside the state and urged upon all stakeholders to evolve strategy to export traditional Handloom & Handicrafts products to European countries where there is a huge demand.
N.T Glow, IRS, Secretary (Textile & Handicrafts), Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh was Guest of honour while U.C Baro, Assistant Director (Weavers Service Centre), O/o D.C (Handloom), Govt. of India, Ministry of Textiles, Gauwhati attended as Special Guest.
