ITANAGAR, Sep 12: Assembly Speaker Passang Dorjee Sona on Thursday convened a second round meeting with a Delhi based consultant company here at his office chamber to intensify efforts to transform the newly created districts of Lepa-Rada, Shi-Yomi, Pakke-Kessang and Kamle into ‘Model Districts’.
The meeting was attended by Basar MLA Gokar Basar, Raga MLA Tarin Dakpe, Pakke-Kessang MLA Biyuram Waghe and Secretary Planning Himanshu Gupta. Chairing the meeting, the Speaker, who represents Shi-Yomi district reiterated that proper planning is vital for the development of infrastructures in the new districts. “We need to plan for at least 100 years as urbanization is taking place rapidly,” Sona said while stressing on the vital areas of water supply, power, sewerage, communication and settlement and requested the consultant company to facilitate ideas based on available land and other resources without damaging the environment. Raga MLA Tarin Dakpe suggested for integrated planning process and the need for development of model district headquarters in a proper manner. Secretary Planning Himanshu Gupta while sharing his ideas and suggestions for development of district headquarters, pointed out the inseparable aspects of soil testing, topography, etc during planning.
Earlier, through a Power Point presentation, the consultants explained on the progress made so far, the way forward and assured to facilitate all possible assistance for development of infrastructural facilities in these new districts. Speaker Media Cell
