ITANAGAR, Feb 1: State Assembly Speaker P.D. Sona has expressed profound grief over the demise of Lera Sharjo, a respected figure in the Memba community of Mechukha in Shi-Yomi and a distinguished retired teacher. Late Lera Sharjo passed away on Tuesday in Guwahati at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy of educational excellence and community leadership.
Born in 1938 in Menchukha village, late Lera Sharjo made history as the first teacher from the Memba community, dedicating his entire life to the noble cause of education. His impactful journey culminated with his retirement in 2007, marking the end of an era in the educational landscape of State.
Sona acknowledged and honored the significant contributions of late Lera Sharjo as a trailblazer in education.
“His commitment and passion for shaping young minds will be eternally remembered by the community and beyond,” said Sona in his condolence message
“As we bid farewell to this luminary, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Lera Sharjo's family. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his exemplary life continue to inspire generations to come,” the message added.
Late Lera Sharjo is survived by wife, two daughters and a son.
