ITANAGAR, Oct 15: Sportspersons Joti Mane and Anu Komi who have made Arunachal Pradesh proud on several occasions today called on the Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, Pasang Dorjee Sona here at his office.
Mane is the first athlete from Arunachal to win a gold medal in any national athletics championship and she achieved the feat by winning the 5000-mtr race in Girls’ U-20 category in the 31st East Zone Junior Athletics Championship held in Ranchi in September last. Komi, who is a karateka has won many medals for the state while participating in various national level karate championships. Congratulating both the girls for their achievements, Speaker lauded them for making the state proud and exuded hope that they will bring more laurels for Arunachal in coming days and extended his best wishes for their future endeavours. Earlier, both the sportspersons briefed the Speaker about their future planning and upcoming events, besides expressing deep sense of gratitude for all the support they receive from the people of state. Shi-Yomi District Olympic Association (Acting President) Aling Pinggam who accompanied the girls highlighted on issues pertaining to games and sports in the district.
Meanwhile, an Adi Bane Kebang Women Wing delegate led by its President, Olen Megu Damin also met the Speaker and informed him about their proposed legal and social awareness campaign to be organised at Tato in Shi-Yomi district. They briefed the Speaker that the awareness programme will target the women folk of Tato and nearby areas and will focus on various issues such as marriage registration, cleanliness etc. Speaker lauded them for their good work and further suggested them to spread awareness on drugs, alcoholism etc. Speaker Media Cell
