ZIRO, Feb 9:Speaker, Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly, TN Thongdok, flagged -off the  second expedition to Talley Valley organized by All Ziro-Hapoli Youth Association in collaboration with the Hapoli Forest Division  from Abotani Hall, Hapoli today.

 “Ziro and its people will always remain close to my heart as I began my career as an Assistant Engineer, RWD from this beautiful valley in 1975. Talley Valley in particular has always mesmerized me with its pristine serenity and today being a part of this journey after forty years makes me emotional and nostalgic,” said Thongdok.

While interacting with the trekkers at Pange, the first stoppage for Tally Valley, he urged the people to be saviours of the wildlife, flora and fauna of this wildlife sanctuary and encouraged peaceful co-existence between humans and the environment.

The Speaker also suggested for introducing trout fishes in the Pange river. He later planted medicinal plants around the forest IB and inspected the Orchid trail preservation. However he could not proceed to Talley owing to inclement weather.

It is worth mentioning here that Thongdok also initiated human settlement in the Talley valley by providing them ration and financial assistance during his service tenure at Ziro from 1975 to 1977. Nine families from nine villages across the Ziro valley were chosen to settle at the Talley Valley vicinity. However owing to the cold conditions human settlement could not be established so far in Talley valley. He is also one of the architects of water supply management for Ziro in mid 70s and also initiated the construction of ALG, Ziro.

Ziro-Hapoli, MLA Er. Tage Taki while responding to the memorandum submitted by the DFO Koj Rinya assured to install watch towers and solar lamps for the IBs at Pange and Tally Valley and further assured to take up the road maintenance from Pange to Talley Valley with the higher authorities.

 DFO, Hapoli Forest Division Smt. Koj Rinya, IFS presented a PowerPoint on the prospects and challenges of eco-tourism during the interaction program at Pange.

The team members also included Ziro- Hapoli MLA Er.Tage Taki, Mrs Tage Assung, Ex -MLA Shri Nani Rebia, Officers, members of All Ziro-Hapoli Youth Association, Ngunu Ziro , Ziro Youth Carnival etc.

At an altitude of 2400 meters, Talley is a valley with dense fir trees, pines and a vast wasteland. It is the home to most endangered species including the clouded leopard and varieties of orchids. Notified as Wild Life Sanctuary Division in 2010 it is headquartered at Manipolyang, Ziro.
