ITANAGAR, Jun 4: State Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona through a letter to the Chief Engineer, Project Brahmank, Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has drawn attention to the strategic Sikam Sibu bridge near Yapik village in Shi-Yomi district which has been completely washed away after heavy rainfall at the intervening night of June 2 & 3.
In the letter dated June 4, Sona has urged the BRO to take immediate action to restore the bridge and also underscored the importance of the connecting Aalo-Mechukha road for the entire Shi Yomi District since it serves the vital civilian needs such as movement of people, transportation of essential commodities, life-saving drugs & construction materials as well the strategic military needs like movement of defence personnel etc.
The letter has specifically mentioned that since the prevailing inclement weather has made the supply of essential items and evacuation of emergency patients including Covid cases through the sorties impossible, restoration of the bridge on a war footing is an utmost necessity. Speaker's PR Cell
