ITANAGAR, Mar 20: State Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona convened a meeting here at his office conference hall on Friday evening in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak across the country and world.
Highlighting the lethal nature of the virus, Speaker suggested the officers and staff of the State Assembly to take utmost preventive measures and avoid panicking.
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Development, GoI Dr Sajjan Singh Yadav who attended the meeting on Speaker’s request advised the officers and staff to maintain hygiene and take the suggested precautionary measures. Reiterating the need to avoid physical touching, Yadav urged them to adopt “Namaste” while greeting people.
IDSP State Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa advised the officers and staff to be alert without falling prey to panic and maintain the laid-out hygiene routine. He informed that though no Covid-19 case has been reported from the entire Northeast, the state health department is fully prepared for any eventuality. He also stressed on regular sensitization of the office area especially the hard surfaces where the virus is likely to survive for days.
