ITANAGAR, Aug 31: On the auspicious occasion of Solung Festival, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.), Chief Minister Pema Khandu and State Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona have extended their greetings to the people of the state.
In his message, Governor said that Solung Festival which showcases the socio-cultural and religious life of the Adi community has been celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm from time immemorial in the state to appease deities for a bumper harvest of crops, peace, prosperity and well-being of mankind. He underscored that it is due to the wholehearted participation by the Adi people under the guidance of their elders, this ancient tradition has been kept alive.
On this joyous occasion, I join my Adi brothers and sisters in offering prayers to the Almighty Donyi Polo, Kine-Naane, Doying-Bote and Dadii-Bote to shower all of us with blessings for peace, harmony and prosperity, Governor said in his message.
Chief Minister while greeting the people on the auspicious occasion said that uniqueness of Arunachal Pradesh is its co-existence of several tribes and communities for ages with their indigenous culture and traditions. Solung too would prove a major catalyst towards achieving the goal of unity in diversity, his message read. He also offered prayers to Doying-Bote and Kine-Nane for a good season and bumper harvest in the coming days.
State Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona has extended his warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion. I join the Adi community in offering prayers for peace and prosperity and hope that the joyous festival will usher in bumper harvest and tranquility in the state, Speaker said in his message.
