ITANAGAR, May 26: Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) led by its chairman Patey Tayum on Monday donated 200 pieces of N-95 face masks to the working journalists of the state.
The masks were received by Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist (APUWJ) president Amar Sangno on behalf of the state’s media fraternity.
“The journalists are at equal risk of contracting the virus as the other frontline workers. Media has been at the front when it comes to disseminating information to the public on the Covid pandemic from day one of its outbreak,” Tayum said, while interacting with the media persons present.
He said the masks were a small contribution to the journalist fraternity from the ACS for their untiring work and for safety while reporting.
Taking the opportunity, Tayum also requested the people to try and use better quality masks for easy breathing and total safety.
“The people in red zone areas and those who cannot afford good quality masks are the most vulnerable to the virus. I request the state government to provide high-quality masks, especially to the frontline workers and those who are in quarantine facilities,” he said.
Tayum was of the opinion that the state government could utilize the relief fund provided by the central government in such activities.
Sangno while thanking the ACS for their contribution appealed his journalist colleagues to exercise caution while reporting.
