Itanagar, Mar 19: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority(APSLSA) in collaboration with Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India has conducted a two-day legal literacy training programme on ‘Synergy between Customary Laws of AP and General Laws’ for Gaon Buras and Gaon Buris here in capital.
The training programme is a part of the project ‘Access to Justice, North East & Jammu & Kashmir (A2JNE & JK)’ and meant for Gaon Buras and Gaon Buris of Papum Pare, Kurung Kumey, Kra Dadi,Kamle,Lower Subansiri and East Kameng districts.
Nearly 120 Head Gaon Buras, Head Gaon Buris, Gaon Buras and Gaon Buris of these districts were elaborated on the ways and means to synergise the space between customary tribal laws with that of the general laws of the land. The two days programme had a number of sessions wherein in the first day, Budi Habung spoke on the responsibility of the legal services authority in providing access to justice for all, free legal services, Lok Adalat & concept of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Project A2JNE & JK aims to train nearly 400 Gaon Buras and Gaon Buris across Arunachal Pradesh in 6 parts with 3-4 districts clubbed together at central locations namely Tawang, Itanagar, Aalo, Pasighat, Tezu and Ziro. APSLSA Press Release
