ITANAGAR, Nov 11:Raksha Mantri Nirmala Sitharaman was today on a day long visit to Itanagar and co-chaired a high-level meeting along with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Present in the meeting were state Minister for Land Management Nabam Rebia, C-in-C Eastern Command, DGDE and Joint Secretary from Ministry of Defence and Chief Secretary amongst others.
A total of seven agenda points were discussed in detail with regard to land acquisition for defence purposes in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The complications peculiar to Arunachal Pradesh due to collective community land holdings, change of priorities at late stage of procurement, excess payments, higher land costs, emerging necessities of the army were issues discussed during the meeting.
Most of the agenda were resolved with major progress being achieved towards early settlement of all cases. Khandu assured support from the state government besides personal indulgence with locals to break existing log-jams.
The meeting was closed with all stakeholders sanguine of fruitful outcomes in short time even if some more meetings between them were necessitated in immediate time frame.
Minister for Land Management Rebia gave the vote of thanks and Lt Gen MM Naravane assured full commitment to the assurances made by the army.
