ITANAGAR, Feb 12: In a significant move against corruption, the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of Arunachal Pradesh has employed innovative methods to nab a corrupt official. The SIC utilized a chemical that changes color upon contact with bribes, leading to the arrest of CK Singh, a senior Junior Engineer (JE) of the Public Works Department (PWD).
The arrest comes following a complaint filed by Nabam Tangu, whose firm required renewal but was met with demands for a hefty bribe of Rs. 50,000 by CK Singh. The 58-year-old JE, stationed at Chief Engineer PWD Western Zone, was apprehended in the act of accepting the bribe, with an independent witness corroborating the evidence.
This marks the first instance in the history of Arunachal Pradesh where such a proactive approach has been taken against corrupt practices, said Superintendent of Police of the SIC, Anant Mittal. He further expressed determination to continue such actions against those soliciting bribes, underscoring the commitment to uphold integrity and combat graft.
Following the arrest, a case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 against CK Singh, signaling a resolute stance against corruption within governmental institutions.
