ITANAGAR, Jul 21: In a bid to promote games & sports in the newly created district of Shi-Yomi, a delegation of Shi-Yomi District Olympic Association (SYDOA) led by its General Secretary Tali Yorme recently called on the Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) Secretary General Abraham K Techi at his office and discussed in details about the aims and objects of the newly formed association.
The visiting members highlighted that Shi-Yomi being one of the new districts needs AOA’s supports and assistance for the growth of games & sports. SYDOA members said that although the district is endowed with lots of sports talents with potential to perform well in national and international arena, in order to encourage the youths of the district to take up games & sports in a greater way, the need of the hour is to organize tournaments and invite them for the same. 
AOA Secretary General, while lauding the efforts made by SYDOA for improvement and promotion of sports in the district, assured all possible help and awarded affiliation certificate to the newly formed association. 
It can be recalled that Shi-Yomi district is one of the 23 districts of Arunachal Pradesh and was created by bifurcating the West Siang district in December 2018 having its HQ at Tato. The district is home to the Membas, Adi and Tagin tribes and is divided into four administrative units namely Mechukha, Tato, Manigong and Pidi and is a part of the Arunachal East LS Constituency. In order to enhance the development of sports & games at a faster rate at the grass root level and supplement the efforts of the sports persons, the Shi-Yomi District  Olympic Association (SYDOA) was formed on May 15 this year with 7 members. SYDOA got affiliated from Arunachal Olympic Association on July 20 and aims to play a catalytic role in bridging the aspirations of the young sports persons to participate in the national and international level competitions.
