PASIGHAT, Jul 5: In a noble initiative meant for the needy people affected by the lockdown, especially the old-age group, the Borguli Siang Ane Self Help Group on Saturday distributed items like basic health drinks, rice and cash to 34 elderly persons in Borguli village.
Speaking about the initiative, the SHG Head Bipiyang Tayeng, who also led the village as an ASM in the previous Panchayat tenure said that among the people affected by the lockdown, the elderly class has been severely-affected and to mitigate their pain to some extent along with eatables, cash assistance of Rs. 1000 each has also been extended. 
On behalf of Borguli village, Village Secretary Balom Tayeng expressed gratitude to the SHG for showing the noble gesture. “We were also gifted with Assamese Gamusa and torchlight and we are hopeful that the SHG will continue their humanitarian services in the coming days”, said Tayeng.
