BOMDILA, Jan 29:  West Kameng Tourism office adopted Shergaon as the model village to promote rural and eco tourism in the district in a programme held at Shergaon on January 28 organized to commemorate the National Tourism Day celebration.
Acquainting the locals on the growing tourism industry in the state, the tourism officers reiterating on the need and importance of a clean, well furnished and well maintained traditional home stays said that due care should be taken to promote  and propagate one’s culture, tradition and local arts & artifacts.

Lobsang Tsering, bird tour guide as resource person from BAC Voyages, Tours & Travels, Itanagar, dealt on birding. Shergaon itself has 149 varieties of bird species.
The villagers also participated in the Tourism Resource identification programme to realize the full tourism potential of the village.
A cooking competition exclusively of local cuisines was also held as a part of the programme.DIPRO
