NAMSAI, May 13: A severe cyclonic storm accompanied by heavy rains on late Sunday evening left a trail of destruction across Namsai district.
While no loss of life has been reported, the storm caused huge damages to homes and infrastructure. Piyong circle was the worst hit with houses and granaries damaged and trees as well as electric poles uprooted, leading to blockade at various portions of the Piyong-Namsai highway.
Chow Mutuwom Manchey, a local informed that the cyclonic storm that struck the village at around 11:30 pm on Sunday damaged his house & granary. Another villager from Piyong Circle, Chow Kaming Engling also narrated a similar story of destruction.
The villagers further informed that no official from the concerned department or administration has visited the affected area to assess the damages.
