ITANAGAR, Apr 8: The Special Expenditure Observer D.D.Goel while addressing the senior officers of the Chief Electoral Office today here in the conference hall of CEO stressed on the importance of teamwork and promptness while checking and frisking people and vehicles during the election process.
Urging all stakeholders to leave no stone unturned in order to ensure free and fair elections, he said that the CEO must make a sincere effort to prepare a level playing field by systematically blocking the rampant use of money by political parties. Goel asked the concerned officers to closely monitor the bank transactions and check financial malpractices and take timely action on misuse of money during election.He also added that delay in taking actions would invariably defeat the very purpose of a free and fair election.
IGP & SNO Sunil Garg, while participating in the deliberation, told the visiting Special Expenditure Observer that even CM’s cars and police vehicles were not spared while carrying out checking. He also said that as on date more than Rs. 5 crore in cash has been seized from different places in the state.
Earlier, in his welcome address CEO Kaling Tayeng threw light on the election preparedness in the state and apprised the SEO on the various steps that had been initiated to ensure free and fair simultaneous elections on April 11. Income Tax Department is also actively involved along with police to thwart any possible electoral malpractices, CEO said.
The meeting was attended by Additional CEO, Kangki Darang, SP (Elections), Commissioner (Tax & Excise) Anirudha Sharan Singh and all State Nodal Officers. DIPRO
