AALO, Dec 9: One day seminar cum cancer awareness programme “Know Cancer for No Cancer” was organised by the Arunachal Cancer Welfare Society, a registered NGO at Gumin Kiin today. Speaking on the occasion, Jarjum Ete said that diseases like cancer can eat into the vitals of our society and it is necessary to know about it so as to take utmost precautions and awareness on this disease. She further said that it is a matter of pride that young people from the NGOs are coming out to give awareness on it.
In his key note address, Dr, Sam Tsering, Radiation Oncologist, said that this number two killer disease has an increasing trend and 5029 cases of cancer diseases have been recorded from 2011 to 2017. He dwelt at length on its causes, preventive measures, treatments. He revealed that Arunachal records highest cases of stomach and liver cancer in the country and most of the cases are reported in the advanced stage making treatment difficult to save the lives of many patients.
Dr. Todak Taba, Gynaecologist, Tertiary Cancer Centre, TRIHMS dwelt at length on Ovarian cancer which is taking a heavy toll of large number of womenfolk of our state which records highest such cases in India.
Orthopaedic Specialist Dr. Jego Ori also gave detailed deliberation on ill effects of drugs and cancer. He is also launched an awareness campaign at Yigikaum Village.
