PASIGHAT, Mar 21: A two month self defense karate course was taught to the students of Kashturba Gandhi Balika Vidyala, Pasighat by the district police in collaboration with M/s Puna Hinda Company and East Siang District Sports Karate-Do Association (ESDSKA), Pasighat which concluded today.

Informing about the course imparted to the girl students and its importance, OC, Pasighat, PS, Atan Taki and lady SI, Michi Yanya said that, learning of karate for self defense has become very important especially when our girls go outside for studies where eve teasing to North East girls are frequent. While SP, Pasighat, Pranav Tayal said that, such course will be taught to all other KGBVs in the district beginning next from KGBV, Kiyit or Motum.

Meanwhile, ESDSKA led by its President, advocate Vijay Mize informed that, the course is being imparted from their side on voluntary basis till now as the support sought from local legislators hasn’t been obliged.

Students from Class VI to VIII were given the course training by the experts and masters like Sensai, Ajoy Chetri (Black belt 3rd Dan), Senpai, Ashok Sahani (Black belt 1st Dan) and Senpai, Ashique Hussain (Brown belt).
