PASIGHAT, Apr 17: As part of the confidence-building measures among voters, the defence personnel including state police, CRPF and BSF personnel conducted a flag march under supervision of the East Siang SP Dr. SK Singhal, which started from the Pasighat Police Station passing through the main town area and was culminated near the IGJ Hr. Sec School ground here on Wednesday evening, ahead of the simultaneous Assembly and Lok-Sabha elections slated to be held on April 19. Led by the DEO Tayi Taggu and SP Dr. SK Singhal, the flag march was also participated by the ASP Pankaj Lamba, DySP, OC and senior police officials. 
Addressing the security forces on the occasion, DEO Taggu said that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a safe environment for voting, however, any individual trying to create law and order problems or disrupt the peaceful environment should be dealt with iron-hands. The flag march was conducted to instill confidence in the electoral process and ensuring that the voters could exercise their adult franchise without fear or intimidation, added Taggu.
Meanwhile, Taggu who is also District Magistrate has clamped Section 144 CrPC within the jurisdiction of East Siang district, prohibiting assembly of more than five persons in a group from 7 pm to 6 am from April 17 to 21. The order bans carrying of knives, daos, any lethal weapon, firearms, arrow, bow, catapults, explosive materials, etc, within the territorial jurisdiction of the district till the completion of the election process.
