ITANAGAR, Mar 20: In view of the COVID-19 Pandemic, State Election Commission has decided to defer the scheduled Panchayat and Municipal Elections, informed Chief Minister Pema Khandu while speaking to media persons today.
CM added SEC has already convened a meeting with all political parties recently and after proper hearing and discussion today, Commission has decided to defer the scheduled election.
We also held a video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi where we have discussed measures for containing COVID-19.
Khandu informed that there are no cases of COVID-19 in the state, so we have strictly urged the district to take all kinds of precautionary measures and stringently screen people entering Arunachal Pradesh from different check gates.
“Maintain social distance, wash hands regulary to avoid its infection," urged the CM while informing that COVID-19 testing center will be soon set-up in the state.
Students studying outside the state are requested to contact concern Resident Commissioners for any kind of help.
Meanwhile, he also appealed the denizens to join the ‘Janta Curfew' on March 22, announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a precautionary measure and encouragement to the healthcare professionals who are trying their best to contain the pandemic.
