TAWANG, Oct 9: The governing body members of Government Upper Primary School of   Yuthembu village under Jang sub-division in a meeting today took the decision to make the school and its premises a Tobacco Free Campus and strictly prohibit the sale of any tobacco products within its 100-yard radius. 
It was also decided that anyone found violating the rules will be penalized under COTPA Act 2003 and an advisory committee under chairmanship of BEO Jang Thingbu, Headmaster and other teachers as members was also formed. In a similar effort, Government Higher Secondary School, Jang has also been declared as Tobacco Free Campus. The meeting of both the schools ended with oath taking by the members and students.
DPO (District Tobacco Control Cell), DTCC District Hospital Tawang, Dr. Sang Thinlay further informed that other schools will also go the same way. Meanwhile, the NCD, DTCC team members are spreading awareness on the ill-effects of tobacco in various schools and institutions of Tawang district. DIPRO
