WAKRO, Oct 23: The Wakro branch of the State Bank of India was looted on Monday in broad daylight and a cash amounting to over 3 lakh rupees was snatched by the accused who was later arrested by the police within 25 minutes of the crime being reported.
Reportedly the accused had visited the bank to withdraw cash and on being informed that the account had insufficient funds, he broke the cash counter damaging glass panes with sharp sword and took away Rs 351300. 00 from the drawer of the cashier and fled from the premises.
As soon as Abhijeet Das, branch manager lodged a complaint, the Police acted swiftly and Case No 13/2018 U/S 448/427 & 392 IPC was registered and investigation launched by Inspector Thomas Pertin, OC, Wakro Police Station.
A hunt was launched by police team and personnel of the 5th IRBN. The accused who was surrounded by the police team at his residence tried to attack the advancing police team but was soon overpowered and apprehended and Rs 3,50,000 was recovered.
