SAGALEE, Feb 17: A week-long rural camp was organized by the Department of Social Work of Himalayan University, Chimpu campus from February 11 to 15 at Apop village, under Sagalee circle of Papum Pare District.
The camp with the theme ‘Escalating Community Living and Participation For Rural People’ was meant for the local denizens and participated by the students of Bachelor of Social Work(BSW) and Master of Social Work(MSW) of Himalayan University, headed by Assistant Professor-cum-Fieldwork Coordinator Tana Naso along with Assistant Professor-cum-Program in-charge Raju Ghising and Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work Megotso K.
The activities conducted during the camp period included rally on health & sanitation and gender roles, social service in the villages, group discussion with villagers etc.
The Department of Social Work of the university as a part and parcel of their curriculum follow these model programs and practices for the students to help them attain conceptual clarity, practical knowledge of social work techniques and allied skills.
The programme was attended by five local Gaon Burahs of Apop & Apop Sango villages besides self-help groups, community based organizations and youths. ES desk
