ITANAGAR, Oct 21: At least 16 Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana projects worth Rs 155 crore have been sanctioned within a short span of time in Likabali constituency, informed local MLA Kardo Nyigyor. Road connectivity in various circles of the Likabali constituency was one of the major demands of the people and now with the vision and support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pema Khandu, 16 PMGSY projects have been sanctioned, added Nyigyor. Speaking to media persons, the MLA further recalled that in the last bye-election people in different parts of the constituency categorically put forward demands for ‘No Road No Vote’ and taking the seriousness of the demand, the state government has given green signal for the 16 road projects in circles like Kangku, Gensi, Siji , Likabali and others.
The work for the said projects is expected to start from December, asserted the MLA.
The government has also sanctioned funds worth Rs 10 crore for the renovation of township road under Northeast State Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), informed Nyigyor adding that another Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a bridge under SIDF to connect Niglok and Likabali township.
Road connectivity in Lower Siang district was one of the major challenges since last many decades and such a response from the Central and state governments is very praiseworthy, the MLA said.
