Yupia, Mar 20: A joint coordination meeting of the Returning Officers and Superintendent of Polices of Papum Pare with the FSTs, SSTs,VSTs, Nodal Officers, Liquor Monitoring team and AMDOs was held on Wednesday.
The joint meeting was held to discuss modalities to effectively functionalise the Integrated check points, deployment of additional manpower and force to the flying Squad teams and Static Surveillance teams, accurate compilation of reports by SSTs, proper seizure process and storage of seizure materials including cash and kind.
Integrated check points are multi-sectoral comprising of official from the Police, Administration, Tax and Excise, Mining, Forestdept etc which will facilitate quicker response to seizures.
Addressing the officials District Election Officer, Papum Pare Bomjen Jiken called for concerted and coordinated efforts from all the officials for a free, fair and peaceful elections.
Congratulating the FSTs and SSTs for their tireless efforts in implementing MCC and the Defacement Act, DEO Bomjen exhorted them to keep up the momentum and also assured to logistically support them in all aspects.
He further informed about the Grievances Cell, that can take a call on the legality of the seized cash and kind whenever grievances are placed by the public.
SP Papum Pare, Taru Gusar while admitting the shortage of police force however felt that coordinated efforts of smaller groups can yield good results.
Calling for maintaining neutrality, SP Gusar asked all the officials on duty to be impartial and exercise absolute neutrality while on duty.
SP, Naharlagun Mihin Gambo, requested all the concerned departments to immediately depute their manpower to the Integrated check posts to make them operational.
Clarifying the doubts of the FSTs and SSTs regarding the seized cash and kind, Gambo further informed that “The seized cash has to be deposited at the SBI lead bank through the DEO. Proper seizure menu of the cash and the kind needs to be prepared and also all the items seized, should be marked with stickers for proper identification.”
DC ICR cum RO-13th Itanagar, Shweta Nagarkoti and Additional SP, ICR Angad Mehta also stressed on operationalising the integrated check post on priority.
SP Mehta warned the officials on duty for “laxity and partiality towards a person or a party” , which he said “shall be viewed seriously”.
RO 15th Sagalee , Higio Yame also placed her concern regarding manpower shortage in her constituency.
Other issues such as accommodation of the force, refreshment for the officials engaged as FST and SSTs etc were also elaborately discussed.
