KHONSA, Dec 13:  The District Disaster Management Authority, under the aegis of Deputy Commissioner, Tirap, organized a district level mock exercise on earthquake and fire accident in Khonsa market area today. The mock drill was conducted under the supervision of 12 Bn NDRF.
The drill was participated by the district administration, police, fire service, health department, NCC students of Government Higher Secondary School and Khonsa Bazaar committee. It was coordinated by the Disaster Management Cell, Tirap district.
Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon appreciated all the participants and extended gratitude to the NDRF team for their excellent demonstration of rescue techniques. He further requested the public to be very careful during winter season as most cases of fire accidents are reported during this season. He stated that in future such drills will also be organized in sub-division and circle headquarters also.
SP JK Meena while participating in the exercise also appreciated the teams for their outstanding performance and advised them to take all kind of precautions to avoid any mishap during such drill.
The 12 Bn NDRF team is visiting Tirap district as part of their routine district familiarization exercise and they have participated in three Sarkar aapke dwar programmes, visited six circles of the district and imparted search and rescue techniques to police personnel, students and the public.
