TAWANG, Mar 18:‘A World of Opportunity Awaits Your Craftsmanship’, a programme under Hastkala Sahyog Shivir, an initiative of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, to give awareness to weavers about different schemes and benefits available was organised jointly by the Department of Textile and Handicrafts and Youth Action for Social Welfare, Tawang at Zomkhang Hall.

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, MoS(Home Affairs) Kiren Rijiju exhorted the artisans to showcase their talent through such platforms. Reiterating on the importance of participation of rural folks, he highlighted on the role of concerned officials in dissemination of information and mobilisation of masses. Rijiju dwelt at length on how modern techniques and equipment can ensure growth and development of textiles and handicrafts sector through quality improvement.

Artisans and weavers present were enlightened on increasing value of products through technological upgradation, issuance of credit facilities, Buyer Seller Meets and Expos etc. The programme also saw distribution of tool kits.

Senior Director, Office of the Development Commissioner(Handicrafts), SK Jha, Regional Director(NER) Office of the Development Commissioner(Handicrafts) NK Palai, and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Anuj Sharma were also present.
