DAPORIJO, Sep 25: Under the sponsorship of National Health Mission, government of India, the Upper Subansiri Administration organised a two - day health mela from September 25-26 at Rijo Conference ground, Daporijo. The Health Mela was inaugurated by MoS Home Kiren Rijiju, in presence of MLAs Punji Mara, Paknga Bage, DC Upper Subansiri, Danish Ashraf among others.

Around 25 medical stalls were set up and 20 doctors from different speciality participated in the mela offering their services free of cost in the form of consultations, investigations and medicines. The event saw huge participation from the public and a total number of 2000 patients availed free medical services on the first day.

After inauguration, the chief guest visited all the medical counters and interacted with the medical team followed by inauguration of projects under CSR and BADP. He also lighted lamp to mark the birth anniversary of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay.

Rijiju, in his address appreciated the district administration, the medical department and the defence services for organizing the event successfully within a short span of time. He also informed about Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) & Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY) which aims to provide insurance cover and cashless healthcare services to the people.

MLAs Punji Mara and Paknga Bage also spoke on the occasion and appealed to the public to avail the free health services and awareness provided during the event.
