AALO, Sep 27: The District Library office building here, executed by Rural Works Department, was inaugurated by Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju, on Wednesday.
Addressing the brief function in the newly constructed library hall, Rijiju said that libraries should act as platforms where all categories of people can come and read books ranging from children’s comics, anecdotes, newspapers to great works by writers, poets and litterateurs free of cost. It is important to inculcate reading habit among the young generation and start library movements and awareness in circles and subdivisions of the district.
Replying to a memorandum submitted by DLIO, Minam Darang pertaining to procurement of books, racks, computers, construction of Sub divisional level library building at Kamba, Darak Circle library and cafeteria in the Library premises, the MoS assured to look into the immediate needs and asked the department to send the proposal through the Minister, Library and Research who is from the district.
The Assistant Director of Library, Yayum Riba and DLIO Hq Yajap Kena who came all the way from Itanagar to oversee the inaugural ceremony also narrated the problems and awareness programmes initiated by them to disseminate importance of reading habits in the past as DLIOs of the district. Tapoli Badu, District Research Officer also submitted a memorandum for new research office building cum museum for Aalo as the present museum is in a dilapidated condition and outlived its utility. The MoS was accompanied by Jarkar Gamlin, Minister of Tax & Excise, Art & Culture, etc., Tumke Bagra, Deputy Speaker, Nyamar Karbak, MLA Liromoba, Deputy Commissioner, West Siang, Sode Potom and HoDs during the inaugural.
