ITANAGAR, Oct 23: Speaking at the interactive session jointly organised by the RGUTA (Rajiv Gandhi University Teacher Association) and RGUEA (Rajiv Gandhi University Employees Association), new Vice Chancellor of the state’s lone central unversity, Prof Saket Kushwaha said that only with team work, the RGU can achieve greater heights.
Responding to grievances of the two organisations, Prof Kushwaha said that he has already held consultations with Central minister and officials of the MHRD and sought redressal to the grievances.
While assuring the assembled faculty and other employees of the university that his tenure here would be devoted to ensure ideal working conditions, he also called upon them to be accountable to the expectations that people have of them.
Earlier in her opening remarks, RGUTA president Prof Jumyir Basar gave an account of the association’s history and also apprised the VC of various difficulties faced by the faculty members including the matter of pensions, water scarcity and the dream of the university to be a fully residential one. She also informed that RGUTA is proposing for a plastic free campus.
RGUEA Vice President Gomar Basar also briefed the vice chancellor about the difficulties faced by the University employees and appealed for the VC’s personal intervention in matters of pay hike of contractual employees, creation of posts, holding of DPC on time and framing well defined recruitment rules.
RGUTA GS Bikash Bage shared how difficult it was for the university to function without a full time VC for ten months.
RGUEA general secretary Biru Taba in his closing remarks appreciated the high turn out at the gathering and said that it reflected the expectations of the unversity from the Vice Chancellor.
