ITANAGAR, Feb 1: Rajiv Gandhi University is all set to observe its 36th Foundation Day on February 4 next with acclaimed social activist and Padma Bhushan Dr.Bindeshwar Pathak to deliver the Foundation Day Lecture.
The programme will be conducted at the university auditorium situated at the picturesque Rono Hills campus with the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and the Chief Rector of the university, Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra attending as Chief Patron. Founder of Sulabh International Social Service Organization, New Delhi Dr.Bindeshwar Pathak will deliver the Foundation Day Lecture on the topic “Education, Social Action, Sanitation & Public Hygiene: Sulabh’s Key Contributions to the Nation Building”. Secretary of the Gandhi Darshan, Hyderabad GVVSDS Prasad, has also consented to attend as the Guest of Honour and will be speaking on the topic ‘Nai Talim and Gandhi Darshan on Education’.
Vice-Chancellor of RGU Prof. Saket Kushwaha who took stock of the preparations with officers, deans and heads of departments informed that, presentation of Best Employees Awards in various categories shall be one of the features of the celebrations. The celebrations will also mark creative games and sports, cultural programmes and ceremonial feast. Registrar in-charge of the university Prof. Tomo Riba informed that as a convention each year a department or an institute of the university is made the nodal organizer to organize the foundation day celebrations and this year, the Employees Association of the university, RGUEA has been bestowed the responsibility.
Rajiv Gandhi University, the lone central university in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, is an affiliating university by nature. Presently 41 colleges and institutes offering varied courses in the state are affiliated to the university which is a home to 26 departments under 9 broad faculties besides few centres offering range of courses.
