RONO HILLS, Aug 26: Rajiv Gandhi University’s Department of English hosted a daylong international webinar titled ‘Conceptualizing Contemporaneity of Gandhi’ in collaboration with the Gandhi-King Global Initiative, Stanford University Centre, USA and Gandhi-King Foundation, Hyderabad on August 25 last.
Director, Centre for Non-violence and Peace Studies, The University of Rhode Island, Kingston Professor Paul Bueno de Mesquita in his keynote address underscored the continued relevance of Gandhian principles and philosophy in an increasingly hostile global geo-political environment. Eminent intellectuals and scholars such as Director, Martin Luther King Jr. Education and Research Institute, Stanford Institute Professor Clayborne Carson, Professor Isao Takagi, Soka University, Japan, Professor Naresh Kumar Sharma, University of Hyderabad, Professor Michael Honey Haley, University of Washington Tacoma and David Kirshbaum, the Non-violence International Representative to the United Nations spoke on the occasion. RGU VC Professor Saket Kushwaha emphasized on the necessity of recognizing peace as the central principle of life. Pro VC Professor Amitava Mitra was the chief guest of the evening session.
