Rono Hills, Jun 20: The Institute of Distance Education, Rajiv Gandhi University is organising a state level orientation workshop titled “Understanding ODL Regulations 2017” on June 20 and 21 here at the IDE conference hall to discuss the new regulations of Open and Distance Learning mode with the coordinators of all the 14 learner support centres spread across the state in various colleges.
RGU Vice Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha said that the university is going forward and it’s time to identify all weaknesses and eradicate them. He shared that the university needs to secure higher values in regard to ‘Research’ and ‘Perception’ and added that this is only possible with a positive change in the attitude of both teachers and learners. He requested the coordinators of all the learner support centres to act as a bridge between the university and the colleges in imparting quality education and reiterated that RGU is ready to extend all support to the colleges in taking forward the Higher Educational Institution in the ODL mode.
Director, IDE, RGU Professor Ashan Riddi, highlighted the shifting of the education system from traditional way of teaching-learning process towards technological advancement and innovations in educational transactions. Workshop Coordinator Moyir Riba shared that the ODL Regulations 2017 is a big change for the ODL system with changes not only in its functioning and monitoring but also in the  perception towards it.
The technical session started with the presentation from COE, I/c, RGU Dr. Nani Tamang Jose with a session on examination process followed by presentations of various resource persons on the new ODL regulations and its implementation in  higher educational institutions. RGU PR
