ITANAGAR, Mar 24: Kiryi Potom, a Ph.D Research Scholar from Rajiv Gandhi University, Department of Geography has successfully introduced the newly released Natural Rubber clone (RRII-208) developed by the Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII) at Ngorlung Village of East Siang District, with rubber cultivator, Ojing Aje in November last year.

It is expected that the budding process and production will start by 4 years and 10 years respectively.

The high yielding rubber clone is suitable for a low temperature region, tolerant to wind damages, powdery mildew, and abnormal leaf fall and has been considered excellent for plantation in the North Eastern States.

It is to be here mentioned that earlier a seedling was presented to Potom by Chairman of Rubber Board of India, A. Ajith Kumar during 9th Annual Rubber Conference of Association for Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) in Guwahati on October 17 last year.
