ITANAGAR, Mar 17: A concluding workshop on the Mother & Child Health and Mission Indradhanush Campaign organized with the support of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India was conducted by the Regional Directorate of DFP, Arunachal Pradesh at Itanagar today. Heads of all nine DFP units of the state participated in the workshop which reviewed the implementation of the programme in two phases during the year.

This region was allocated 14 campaigns to be organized in Changlang, Lohit, Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Lower Subansiri, Kurung Kumey and East Kameng districts

In his address, Director, DFP, Arunachal Region Dr. HR Keshavamurthy, appreciated the unit staff for their efforts in carrying the message of Mother and Child healthcare and vaccination(Indradhanush) to the remote villages including those near Indo- China and Indo –Myanmar border and called for more aggressive campaigning in coordination with state health department, Panchayat Raj institutions and NGOs so that institutional delivery becomes a norm in this state resulting in improved IMR/MMR rate and also 100% coverage of eligible children under vaccination programme.

He also advised officials to involve ICDS project functionaries in a bigger way so that the utility of balanced diet and nutritious food in the overall development of mother and child is propagated by way of exhibition and education.

He also thanked state Directorate of NHM and their District Officials for active participation by way of deputing Doctors, Nurses, ASHA to set up medical camps and conducting Healthy Baby Shows.

In his remarks, RP Chakraborty, Administrative Officer advised the unit officials to follow the financial rules meticulously while spending funds and ensure maximum benefit with available resources.

Unit officials shared their experience of organizing such programmes and suggested ways to improve the campaigns to reach out more areas.
