 BALIJAN, May 4: Minister Urban Development& Town planning cum local MLA Nabam Rebia today carried out surprise inspection of various ongoing projects in Balijan Township and expressed concern about slow pace of progress of developmental projects.

Rebia who along with ADC Balijan Chukhu Takar and local leaders of the area walked on foot from Tengabari to Balijan inspected 5 KM PMGSY road; damaged culvert at Garung Karbi Village, illegal boundary wall erected along the boundary of PHC, under construction circuit house, Indoor hall of Sport Department, PMGSY road under RWD Department etc.

After inspecting all the projects, Rebia expressed dismay over the progress of the work and directed the concern executing department as well as contractors to complete the work within the stipulated time and warned that the delay in completion, the nodal executing RWD Department will be held responsible.

Rebai also took serious note of quality of construction materials used by the contractors in the ongoing circuit house construction and directed the Executive Engineer PWD, Doimukh Division to monitor the work properly and complete it soon or else contractor payment will he held up.

 Rebia also urged the executing team to immediately make the community hall functional for public use, which is lying in pathetic condition for last 2 years or otherwise the officials will have to face disciplinary action.

Over the issue of providing compensation to the victim of the cyclone hit Chessa-Sunajuli area, Rebia informed that he has directed the officials to expedite the process and assured that the compensation will be paid to beneficiaries shortly. He asserted that the central Disaster Management who is presently touring the state may also take a visit to the area to assess the damages.

Further Rebia also exhorted the public to cooperate with contractors and with the officials for timely completion of the projects and directed the officials to monitor the construction work regularly.
