Itanagar, Feb 29: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, Dera Natung College, Itanagar today organised an awareness programme on financial literacy with special focus on saving and power of compounding.
The programme began with the welcome address by Dr. Wangda G. Gyana, Head-cum-Co-ordinator of the programme. He welcomed all the dignitaries and the student-participants from different departments of the college. He also highlighted on the significance of the programme in the present times.
The Principal of the college, Dr M.Q. Khan spoke on how important is it for a person to become financially literate. He lauded the collaborated initiative taken by the Department of Commerce and the Reserve Bank of India. He encouraged the student-participants to be financially-informed so as to achieve financial freedom in life. He exhorted the students to reap optimum benefits out of the programme and also to disseminate the knowledge of literacy to their friends, relatives and villagers.
Abhijeet Majumdar, General Manager, RBI-Itanagar, gave a detailed speech on Financial Literacy. In his speech, he emphasised the need of not only being literate, but also being financially literate these days. Differentiating the terms ‘wants’ and ‘needs’, he advised the participants on managing ones limited saving by taking informed decisions while investing so that there is growth of wealth.
Ajay Kumar Murmu, Assistant Manager, RBI-Itanagar, gave a detailed presentation on Saving and Power of Compounding. He spoke on the benefits of compounding of interest on investments one makes. He also spoke on the various investment opportunities available and emphasised on having financial goals and plans in life.
In the ‘Q & A’ session, the participants and the faculty members actively participated. The queries were answered by the General Manager and Shri Alok Ekka, Assistant General Manager, RBI- Itanagar.
