ITANAGAR, Oct 30: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have extended their warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day to be celebrated across the country on October 31 commemorating the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. 
In his message, Governor said that Sardar Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India was instrumental in achieving political integration of the nation by undertaking the colossal task of obtaining accession of over 562 princely states. “On this momentous occasion, I join my fellow citizens of Arunachal Pradesh in paying respectful tributes to Sardar Patel. Let us ensure that efforts of Sardar Patel for unification of the country progress further,” his message read.  
Chief Minister while paying rich tributes to Sardar Patel, said that it was due his efforts the country was integrated as one entity in the years following India’s independence. He also reminded that this year, National Unity Day has a special significance as it marks the completion of the task of making Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh the integral parts of India through abrogation of Article 370. 
It can be recalled that in 2014, Government of India introduced Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with an aim to pay tribute to Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary. PRO Raj Bhavan, CMO
