ITANAGAR, Feb 5: The United Arunachal Indigenous Forum (UAIF) would be carrying out a mass bike rally on February 10 from Nikum Niya hall to IG Park, Itanagar as a part of its ongoing movement against proposed decision to grant Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) to few non-tribal populace of Lekang constituency.
This was informed by UAIF Chief, Laffa Paffa in a press conference here today, where he also condemned the CM and DyCM for making the illogical announcement terming it unacceptable and against the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 Act.
Refuting the ground on which Non-APST inhabitants are claiming PRC, he asked them to furnish a copy of their lineage before media and state government to examine whether their claims are truly genuine.
He also dared claimants to an open debate on the issue and asked them to refrain from resorting to the illegal mode of protest such as economic blockade which may affect the economy.
The forum further strongly opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 which seeks to grant citizenship to Hindu minorities from neighboring countries.
At a time when our state is facing threat from Chakma Hajong Issue, Paffa alleged that they are appalled by the silence of the state government over the controversial bill.
The forum reiterated they would go to any extent if announcement to grant PRC is not revoked within the stipulated time.
