PASIGHAT, Nov 11: Continuing their crusade against drug menace in the district, the Women Against Social Evils (WASE) carried out a rally at Sika Bamin village under Sille-Oyan Circle here in East Siang District to raise awareness about drug abuse, drug trafficking, illegal sale of IMFLs, housie, tombola, gambling, etc on Saturday.
An awareness campaign against drug abuse was later conducted by WASE at the village community hall which was attended by Gaon Buras, Anganwadi workers, Ashas, AdiSU, village youths and elders, representatives from ABKWW, etc.
In her address, Yamik Dulom Darang, President WASE raised concern over women folk indulging in gambling activities in the villages while neglecting their duties at home.
"When a woman neglects her role as a mother it affects the children and children tends to go wayward, so women should stop gambling and focus on her children, opined Darang.
"Every mother should join this fight against drugs menace and support our cause to protect their children, said Jaya Tasung Moyong, General Secretary WASE. She also urged the women folk to join in their movement.
